Malaga with Anaïs

Two hours, fewer works, more time in front of each one.

Picasso was born a few minutes from the Buenavista Palace, and the collection inside it was given by his own family. That is what makes this museum different from every other Picasso collection in the world, and it is the thread I follow.

We start outside, in the courtyard of a sixteenth-century palace, before the galleries begin. Then, instead of marching through every room, we spend real time with a smaller selection: the astonishing academic paintings he made as a teenager, the Cubist work that took painting apart and put it back together wrong on purpose, the portraits of the women who mark each period of his life, and the restless canvases he was still making in his eighties.
